A Squirrel At The Table

Hi! I’m Caitlin, or as some people like to call me, Squirrel. But Squirrel isn’t just a nickname, it symbolizes part of who I am.  I was given the name from my (now deceased) boyfriend, Jay, 10 years ago.  I’m not sure why he starting calling me that but the name stuck and soon became a huge part of who I am.

The Squirrel is also my power animal.  According to my Animal Spirit Guide book Squirrels learn much more quickly with a hands-on approach, we excel at organizing, strategizing, and implementing plans.  We typically delegate these plans to others so we can move on the other things.  We are sociable but do take a while to warm up to strangers.  We are resourceful and prepared for anything.  We are straightforward, to the point and honest.  We also have a sense of when to confront and when to avoid sticky situations.

I suppose Jay knew me better than I knew myself at the time and gave me the perfect nickname that would lead me to start on this new venture that I am truly passionate about.  A little background on me….I have 4 passions: writing, marketing, animals, and health.  All of which I am currently involved with, in one way or another.  I work full time as a Marketing Manager for a pet supply company with an all natural philosophy, I write ad-copy for them as well as writing for myself in my spare time.  I do a lot of research into human health (physical and emotional) and I’ve certainly tried almost every diet out there.  I’ve been a vegetarian, a vegan and a crash dieter.

But I am done with the diets and the fads!  I am starting a lifestyle.  One that works with my life and body.  I recently adapted a Paleoish lifestyle.  I’m still working hard to eliminate dairy and gluten from my diet.  Cheese and carbs are two of my favorite things but they do not benefit my body.  Right now I’m trying to limit the amount I eat without completely cutting it out of my life and I’m okay with that.

When I began The Paleo Squirrel it was my goal to help others through the sharing of my life experiences.  I knew I was on to something but I realized I couldn’t do it alone.  I invested in the help of my best friend, Nikki, who now runs The Paleo Squirrel with me adding her life experiences and knowledge to mix.  I hope you can relate to our experiences and learn from them to help with your own life’s journey.
